Location:  Beautiful country estate and gardens of Bill Kurtis and Donna Lapietra in Mettawa, Illinois (25779 North St. Mary's Road).

Directions from downtown Chicago. The drive should take between 40 to 55 minutes, depending on traffic.

Head north on the Edens Expressway following the signs to Highway 41 North just past the exits for Dundee Road (left lanes). Stay on 41 North approximately 5 miles to the junction of Route 60 - also known as Town Line Road. Turn west (left) on Route 60 for about 3 miles to the light at Bradley Road (also known as Riverwoods Road). Continue on Route 60 for another 3/4 mile to Saint Mary’s Road, where there is a stop light and a horse riding stable.

Turn left heading south on Saint Mary’s Road for a couple of hundred yards.  Look for our private driveway on the left hand side of the road at the end of the split rail fence. Three mail boxes mark the entrance.  There will be directional signs and balloons.  Follow the private drive through the woods and bear to the left at the fork.

You will pass one other house (the Kurtis Conservation Headquarters) before going past a small pond, and ending your drive at the main manor house.  For your reference, the phone number is 847-680-3916.
