Get your hands dirty with one of the best volunteer gigs in Chicago! Green City Market relies on our community of volunteers to help make the magic happen at our year-round farmers' markets and events.
Volunteer shifts with Green City Market typically last two to three hours and take place at our farmers’ markets — rain or shine! Green City Market is currently seeking volunteers at outdoor markets in Lincoln Park and West Loop.
Please note that all roles require folks to stand/sit for the duration of their shift, between two and three hours. Limited chairs are available, please reach out to operations@greencitymarket.org for any questions or further accommodations.
Volunteer incentives are intended to recognize the hard work of our active volunteer community based on hours contributed per calendar year.
At your first shift, receive a custom GCM volunteer lanyard and name tag.
Complete 10+ volunteer hours (roughly five shifts) and get priority access to volunteer at the 2024 Chef BBQ.
Complete 25+ volunteer hours (roughly ten shifts) and get a $10 GCM Gift Certificate.
Complete 50+ volunteer hours (roughly twenty shifts) and get a Behind the Scenes Tour of the market and Edible Gardens.
Our Volunteer of the Year, the person who completes the most volunteer hours in 2024, will receive two free tickets to Chef BBQ 2025!

Green City Market Volunteer Leads is open to all active volunteers interested in planning events and projects for our volunteer community. All active Green City Market volunteers are invited to join!
