Ask the Chef

Open Wednesdays & Saturdays, 9:30-12:00pm at GCM Lincoln Park

The Ask the Chef tent is a new market education initiative at Green City Market led by Chef Educator Lisa Kalabokis. At the tent, market shoppers can stop by, ask questions, and get tips and tricks on how to prepare their items, along with recipe ideas. The goal of the program is to help shoppers make the most of their market experience. The Ask the Chef program complements GCM's Chef Demos but is more conversational in nature, operating as more of a “question-and-answer” booth where shoppers can get specific one-on-one advice and learn basic cooking techniques. 

For example, don't know where to start with rhubarb? Unsure how to break down the butternut squash you just bought?  Interested in implementing more zero-waste cooking in your home kitchen? Stop by the Ask the Chef tent with any and all questions related to home cooking with market ingredients, and Chef Lisa will offer you on-the-spot guidance and instruction.

Ask the Chef emphasizes simple, everyday techniques that the home chef can easily adopt into their repertoire.

The program is generously supported by the Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts.
