Bio
The Purple Pig opened in 2009 on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile with a simple idea: serve outstanding food and wine in a warm, unpretentious room built for sharing. Its Mediterranean-inspired small plates — drawing on the flavors of Italy, Spain, Greece, and the Levant — and its deep, thoughtfully chosen wine list made it one of the city’s most celebrated dining destinations almost overnight. Named one of Bon Appétit’s “10 Best New Restaurants in America” in 2010 and a Michelin Bib Gourmand honoree every year from 2011 thru 2025, The Purple Pig has spent more than fifteen years defining what generous, honest hospitality looks like in Chicago.
In March 2026, we brought that same cooking west to Oakbrook Center. The Oak Brook location expands on the original with live-fire cooking, house-made pastas and breads, two private dining rooms — Gigi and Livy — a seasonal patio, and a Marketplace just inside the door offering pizza by the slice, house-made gelato, pastries, and coffee, seven days a week. Chef Partner Tony Mantuano, a James Beard Award winner, anchors the culinary direction across both restaurants.
