Big Delicious Planet is a hidden gem in the industrial corridor of Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. A pioneer in Chicago’s sustainable dining scene, BDP has evolved from a backstage rock & roll caterer founded in 1994 to a certified green urban farm-to-table operation.
Owner Heidi Moorman Coudal transformed three adjacent vacant lots into a lush farm with 77 raised beds of organic vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and three beehives. The farm doubles as an event space for hosting intimate weddings, private events, and a weekly dinner series during the summer.
In 2013, BDP became the first caterer in the country to earn 4-Star Certified Green Restaurant status from the Green Restaurant Association, and still holds the title of “Greenest Caterer in America.”
