National Farmers’ Market Week is coming up the first week of August! Farmers’ Market Week is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role farmers’ markets play in our food system.
Here’s what’s on the menu for Farmers’ Market Week 2021 with Green City Market:
Farmers' Market Sweep
Saturday, July 31

Green City Market is hosting our very own Supermarket Sweep! (For the Gen-Zers out there, it's a game show from the '90s. Here’s a refresher.) In honor of our 22nd year, contestants will get $22 and 8 minutes to visit our vendors and buy items from our special shopping list. This activity will take place at GCM West Loop only.

In honor of our 22nd year, contestants will get $22 and 7 minutes to visit our vendors and buy items from our special surprise shopping list. Think: "something foraged, something purple, something that's a root." Items can count towards more than one challenge on the list. Anything you buy, you get to keep!

Visit the GCM West Loop Info Booth Saturday, July 31 anytime between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. You'll sign up with your name and email. You can sign up with one other person — pairs are encouraged!

We'll draw winners randomly and announce the participants by 10:35 a.m. We'll give participating teams the shopping list and review the rules. After that, it's game on!

The team that checks the most off the shopping list will receive a $25 gift certificate to Green City Market per player.

Savor the Seasons

What says August more than the tomato? Taste a slice of every Green City Market farmer’s tomato, compare the differences in flavor between varieties and regions, and vote on your favorite. The winning farm will be crowned the (very official) Best Tomato of Green City Market 2021!
