Bio

Cahokia Rice Farm is owned and farmed by Blake Gerard, a fourth-generation farmer who has been farming for over 30 years in Southern Illinois. Since the Cahokia farm is family-owned and Blake hopes to pass it on to his children for future generations to come, we take sustainable farming and environmental health very seriously.

We utilize regenerative farming and biodynamic growing methods wherever we can in order to protect the environment, maintain a healthy habitat for wildlife, and increase the nutrient density of not only our rice but the environment in which it grows as well.

At Cahokia Rice, we’re proud of the role we play in providing critical wildlife habitat and sustainably growing rice. Our land is home to nearly 220 species of wildlife including crawfish, snakes, frogs, shorebirds, and migrating waterfowl. The health of these animals that live on our farm is a testament to the health of the land we steward.
