Volunteering Opportunities
Be a part of the best volunteer gig in Chicago!
Green City Market encourages all shoppers and supporters of the Market to become a Green City Market volunteer! Volunteers can participate and contribute their time in many ways, including acting as a "Market Resource" at our Market Information Tent on Wednesdays and Saturdays, assisting with special events, helping out during chef demos, working with our Club Sprouts children's program and behind-the-scenes work in the Market office.
Info Booth volunteers assist customers with general questions at the market, educate the public on GCM programming and upcoming events, run our street parking area for chefs who shop directly from the market, manage merchandise and Link (FKA food stamp) transactions, and oversee our single-use waste item sorting stations so folks can properly compost and recycle at market. Club Sprouts volunteers manage our kids education and tasting program. Every week we run a different activity and do a seasonal tasting item. For example, kids who participate in the program could learn about fermenting, pickling, and canning and be able to taste fermented pickles from Drovers Trail farm and strawberry rhubarb jam from Bushel & Peck's.
