Book an Edible Gardens Field Trip Today

We are now booking field trips for the Edible Gardens and Green City Market 2016 season

The Edible Gardens program at Green City Market provides hands-on gardening education and activities for children, school groups, camps and other groups. And it's not just for grade school or high school kids, we do field trips for groups of all ages - adults too! The mission of the Edible Gardens is to give a hands-on education on where food comes from, and ensure that families have the knowledge, experience, and inspiration to help create a sustainable food system.
Hands-on activities in The Edible Gardens can include direct seeding, thinning seedlings, transplanting, weeding, pruning/staking, tasting, harvesting, and composting.

Introducing: Learning Kits from Green City Market

Green City Market, in partnership with the Cook County Agriculture in the Classroom Program is now offering self-contained, easy-to-use learning kits that teachers can pick up at the market to bring back to the classroom. These kits help continue and extend the lessons learned in the gardens and at the market. Topics include germination, fruits and veggies, and a special Fall kit focused on apples and pumpkins of the Midwest. Kits include lesson plans, fun activities and supplies, reading materials and other resources to educate children about agriculture, sustainability and making healthy choices. Kits are in limited supply and must be reserved prior to your field trip.
