Makes 2 Servings
Ingredients
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 Tbsp Greek-style yogurt
- 1/2 tsp molasses
- 1 Tbsp + 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch allspice
- 1 pinch ground ginger
- 1 medium apple, cored and sliced (we used Jona-Prince Apples from Nichols Farm and Orchard)
- 1-2 Tbsp crushed roasted, salted Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)*
Directions
In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, yogurt, molasses, sugar and vanilla. Stir until creamy and smooth (this can take a little time and muscle, so be patient). Mix in spices. Taste dip for flavor. Feel free to add in a few sprinkles more of any of the spices to suit your taste. Set aside.
Coat half of each apple slice in creamy caramel dip. Roll dipped half in crushed Pepitas*. Enjoy!
*Crush them up! You can crush the Pepitas with a mortar and pestle, or even chop them with a chef knife. But we've found that kids have the most fun crushing them with a small rolling pin. Just be sure to place them in a seal-able plastic bag with the air removed so the bag doesn't pop. And crush away!
