Sous Chef Educator, Green City Market
Prior to joining Green City Market, Kristina was a classroom teacher in Chicago for seven years. She has taught Kindergarten, 2nd, 7th, and 8th grades and was on the Leadership team for Social Emotional Learning and Development at her previous school.
Originally from southern California, Kristina’s passion for cooking began when she was a teenager. She loves to create a home-cooked meal after a long day and strives to make as much from scratch as possible. She loves sharing her love of cooking with her family and her favorite California food is an artichoke.
Kristina holds a Master’s Degree in Education from DePaul University and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley. She is also certified in Responsive Classroom, an evidence-based approach to teaching that focuses on creating classroom communities that develop students’ academic and social emotional skills. She loves being able to marry her passions for education and cooking everyday in the kitchen classroom.
When she is not in the classroom, Kristina spends time tending to her garden and collection of houseplants. She also loves to visit parks and splashpads around Chicago with her husband, son, and daughter.
