Born in Chicago and raised in St. Louis, Veronica returned to the Windy City to attend Northwestern University. She completed her master's degree at Durham University in the UK, where she dug into her love for volunteering and sustainability by helping to build a community garden. Veronica works in international education and fills her free time with rock climbing, lakeside runs, and exploring the city with family and friends. She has volunteered for GCM for over a year and joined the Junior Board in August of 2019.

What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?

When I first experienced Green City Market's amazing food and learned about its commitment to educational programming and the environment, I knew I wanted to be a part of this food-loving community that supports our local farms. Getting involved with the market was a perfect way for me to unite and grow my interests in volunteering, the environment, and sustainable food.

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?

Honeycrisp apples in the fall! And the ricotta/lavender/cherry toast from Middle Brow is incredible.

What’s your favorite aspect of the Junior Board?

Getting to work with stellar young people on a shared mission and building a community around sustainable food.
