After being born, raised, and educated in Ohio, Lily traded Lake Erie for Lake Michigan and moved to Chicago in the summer of 2016 to begin her career in accounting. She loves running along the lake, going to concerts around the city, defending the city of Cleveland, and using her Green City Market cookbook to make a great meal after a Saturday market haul. Lily has volunteered with GCM for two years, worked for vendor 1871 Dairy for the summer of 2018, and joined the Junior Board in September of 2018.
What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?
I rollerbladed past the market by accident as a summer intern. The following Saturday, I walked instead of bladed and was hooked. I felt so surrounded by people who cared about and enjoyed eating the same things as me. I knew then that I wanted to become a part of the GCM community.
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?
Tough, but Honeycrisps from Ellis Farms in early September make me never want to ever buy another type of apple.
What’s your favorite GCM event?
Big Table Dinners! They're beautiful and bring out what I love most about Chicago: community members who support local chefs who support local farmers.
