Annie Kain

Junior Board Member, Green City Market

Annie grew up in Columbus, Ohio and attended Miami University, where she developed a passion for health and wellness. Upon graduation, Annie moved to Chicago and has worked for community-based nonprofits, as well as corporate wellness helping people live healthier lives. Not only does Annie love helping humans, she is an avid dog-lover and has two rescues at home with her husband. She also enjoys staying fit, participating in book club with her friends, and date nights with her husband visiting all of Chicago’s tastiest restaurants.

What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?

Good food and healthy living has always been part of my DNA. I want to serve as an advocate to the community on ways in which they can support local farmers who focus on sustainability and healthy eating. I’m excited to share my enthusiasm with a like-minded group of individuals.

What's the most delicious thing you've ever purchased from GCM?

It’s hard to choose the most delicious farmer’s market item (because everything is so good!) But the most interesting thing I found recently was cucamelons! They look like watermelons the size of a grape tomato and taste like a cucumber – delicious and refreshing!

What's your favorite GCM event?

My favorite GCM events are definitely the Big Table Dinners, and of course, A (Mostly) Veggie Affair!
