A Chicagoan for over a decade, Emilie Zanger’s lifelong love of food and cooking made her a regular at Green City Market, and ultimately sparked her passion for supporting the local farming community in a more direct way by getting involved in the Market’s Junior Board. She is an executive director in the Chicago office of Wagstaff Worldwide, a national public relations agency that specializes in working with hospitality clients such as restaurants, hotels, and wine and spirits brands. In this role, she has overseen the public relations campaigns for high-profile restaurants such as Sepia, Spiaggia, and Vera, and has worked closely with inspiring chefs such as Rick Tramonto, Tony Mantuano, Andrew Zimmerman, and Edward Lee. Prior to coming to Wagstaff, Emilie worked as a journalist, honing her editorial experience in the online and print publishing world. Her journalism background includes two years at the independent culture magazine Venus Zine, a stint as Chicago editor of Citysearch.com, and freelance writing for various local food and lifestyle publications. Her insatiable curiosity, close relationships with local media, and B.A. in English from Northwestern University have served her well in her work with the Green City Market Junior Board’s Communications Committee.
An avid home cook, Emilie is currently completing an evening culinary certification program at Chicago’s renowned Kendall College, and in her spare time, she assists her family with marketing their cottage-based granola company, Vanishing Premium Granola, which they sell in farmers’ markets in their home town of Cincinnati, Ohio.
